A Division II Women's Collegiate Conference
MaryBeth Mathews has been coaching Bowdoin Women’s Rugby since 1994. She holds a Masters in Higher Education and an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Southern Maine. She coaches the Maine Collegiate U-23 All-Star and the New England U-23 All-Star teams. Mathews is a certified USA Rugby Level II Coach as well as a certified referee. She also serves on the Women’s Strategic Committee, the College Management Council and the Women’s NCAA Committee for USA Rugby, the national governing board for the sport.
Elisabeth “Bit” Dustin developed her passion for rugby at Mount Holyoke College where she captained the inaugural MHC women’s club side. Wherever her career took her after graduation, she always sought out the local rugby club, playing first fifteen’s for Portland, Maine, Chicago Lakeshore, St. Louis and Beantown. Dustin is a USA Rugby certified level 1 coach and referee, and has coached the backs and rookies of Bowdoin College since 2003. Duston also serves as the Secretary for the NESCRC Board of Directors.
Tanya Kureishi is an undergraduate student at Colby College. She is pursuing a degree in Government and in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies. Having experience with communications and creating social media presences for organizations, she will be a vital bridge between clubs and the NESCRC.
Robert ‘Doc’ Laurence joins the NESCRC administration with over fifty years of experience with the Game. While Laurence played for seventeen years (with MIT, Baltimore RFC and Rosslyn Park FC), his most notable undertakings have been during his time in rugby administration. Aside from his considerable experience in coaching (UMASS for 33 years, and Colby for 10 years, as well as some time at Toulouse University), he has served as the Director for NERFU and Rugby East, the Collegiate Director for Rugby East and NERFU, Secretary of NERFU, VP of Colleges for NRU, and as a Member and Chair for the USAR Collegiate Committee. Additionally, Laurence has served as a selector for the NERFU, NERFU Collegiate, Rugby East, RugbyEast Collegiates, and USA Rugby select teams. He also coached the 1982 New England Collegiate All-Stars. His mission to develop in players an enduring love for the Game has led him to seek involvement at every level of the sport, and will help him meet his goal of seeing the growth and maturing of collegiate players in rugby and in life.
Susan Childers enters her third season as Coach for the Colby Women’s Rugby Club. Childers gained rugby experience competing for Senior Women’s Club teams within the U.S., including Reedy Creek Women’s Rugby (NC) and the Hartford Wild Roses (CT). She is a certified USA Rugby Level II Coach and has coached women’s club teams at Smith College (2000-2001), the University of Idaho (2004-2010) and Colby College. In 2013, Childers was honored as the NESC Rugby Conference Coach of the Year.
James “Eazy” Jackson is the newest member of the NESCRC Administration. With a background in Computer Science, he joins the team to assist with updating the NESCRC Website with scores, match reports, member updates, scheduling and more. With 9 years of experience with the Game, he also serves as the Head Coach of Rugby at his alma mater, Connecticut College. James is excited to join the NESCRC Administration, and looks forward to working with the current members and their teams.
